Best Interior Design Ideas for Your Bedroom for Fall 2022 Season

The leaves are changing color, the weather is cooling down, and pumpkin-spiced everything is back in season – it can only mean one thing: autumn is here. As the days get shorter and the nights get colder, there's no better time to cozy up in your bedroom.

If you've got guests coming over and you want to make them right at home with some seasonal feel to the guest room, or you're looking to revamp your own room for the coming autumn months, check out these eleven interior design ideas for fall that will help you create a bedroom that's perfect for snuggling up in.

From adding warm textiles to incorporating autumnal colors into your decor, these tips will help you create a bedroom that's both inviting and stylish. Let’s get started.

Start With Color

Fall is all about deep reds, rusty oranges, mellow yellows, and an array of different browns, from tan all the way to mahogany brown. Getting your color palette correct is the starting point you need when looking into designing your bedroom this fall.

First of all, you want to start with the neutrals. These are the colors that will act as the foundation of your space and provide a blank canvas for you to build upon. Neutrals include whites, creams, tans, and light browns. Once you've got your neutrals in place, you can start to incorporate your snippets of color throughout; this is where the reds, oranges, and yellows come into place.

It's very easy to go overboard with these fall colors, so be mindful. It sounds cliché, but every interior designer will tell you this, less is more when it comes to the busts of vibrancy.

Move On to the Bed

The bed is the bedroom's focal point, so sprucing up this central piece of furniture is ideal for flawless fall decor. Here’s how.

Mix Up The Bed Sheets

One of the greatest pleasures in life is getting into bed with a fresh set of bedding. There are some great designs when it comes to fall bed sheets. It doesn't need to be a full pattern design, as you can always build upon your sheets. Use the sheets as a foundational block color. There are a couple of ways to think about this.

First, you can go for a more animated design using brighter sheers and build upon this with more neutral colors. This style is a little bit more in your face, so it does depend on your overall bedroom style. Another way would be to start neutral with beige or light brown colors and then add pops of color with things such as throws and pillows or even a few cuddly fall toys.

Finally, you can take the easy route and just buy an autumn-themed set. It kind of takes the fun out of things, but if you are strapped for time, it's a quick fix for you busy bees.

Get a Seasonal Throw

To build upon your bed sheets, you'll want to add in a throw. A throw is a large blanket that is typically thicker than a bed sheet. It is meant to be used as an extra layer of warmth on a bed and can also be used as a decorative piece at the foot of the bed. Many different types of bed throws are available, including faux fur, knitted, and quilted throws.

Texture and color are the two significant factors when choosing the right seasonal throw for your bedroom. Try to match the color with the bedsheets, so it fits in and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. But do make sure it doesn't just blend in with the regular bed sheets. On the texture front, look for something nice to the touch so you can keep things extra cozy.

Fluff Some Pillows

Can you ever have too many pillows on your bed? We think not. Try adding a few extra fall theme pillows onto the bed to start the theme of fall from the center point of the room; the bed. The best thing about this is that you can change up the pillow covers for each season to give your bed a new look without buying and storing four different sets of pillows.

Get Creative

The best part of fall is the fallen foliage that brings a vast array of colors. Bring that color into your bedroom and get creative by making something with your bare hands. Plus, it's totally free if you're willing to go for a rummage in the woods.

Wreaths

Creating your own autumn wreath is a great way to add some personalization to your room, and it's a fun activity to do with friends or family. All you need are some colorful leaves, a hot glue gun, and a circle frame you can build on.

Once you've got your materials, simply arrange the leaves however you like onto the frame and glue them in place. There are some great examples online which will give you some fabulous inspiration.

Ornaments

Bring your ornaments to life with an autumn flair. Have a look around your room and think about what you can build upon to add a few fall colors or some natural beauty. A great port of call is a vase you have on the windowsill. Add some dried flowers or wheatgrass to give a rustic look to your room.

Some fresh autumn flowers go a long way if you want to add a splash of color. Either get this at the local florist or pick them yourself. Ensure to keep in line with the color palette you've chosen to represent the season.

Pumpkin Displays

A pumpkin display is a pretty popular addition to any bedroom, and for good reason too. It's a classic fall decoration that can work in any room. All you need are some pumpkins of different sizes and colors, and then it's up to you how you want to arrange them. You can put them all in a line on the windowsill or have them dotted around the room. Get creative and have some fun with it.

If you don't want to go for natural pumpkins, as they can go bad after a few weeks, try looking online for some pottery alternatives. You'll find some farm-style displays in many online shops and on the high street around this time of year. Some even look better than the real thing.

Stick Sculptures

You can make your own stick sculpture for the real artists out there. Take a walk through the woods and look for some interesting sticks and branches you can use. Once you've got your materials, it's up to you how you want to arrange them. You could make a simple sculpture or get fully creative and try to make something that tells a story.

Update Your Storage

Have you been looking for an excuse to get rid of that hideous shelving unit? Well, now is your time to be out with the old - just like fall - and bring in the new.

The Cyra Office Set is great for the office but would alternatively work perfectly in a fall-themed bedroom setup. It offers a natural gray look where you can put your fall-themed ornaments to incorporate some vibrant colors. If brown is more your style, the set also comes in a bing cherry brown, another great color for fall.

Add Some Ambient Lighting

A bedside lamp can go a long way in bringing the room's mood to the right level. A classic idea for a fall-themed room is an oil lamp. It'll give your room a warm and welcoming atmosphere, foolproof for those long autumn nights. You can buy some great oil lamps online or even in most good interior design stores.

If you want to add something a little bit different, then take a look at string lights. They offer a more subtle way of lighting up the room and come in many different designs too. You could go for fairy lights which are always popular or try something new, like LED lights which use less power but still pack a punch when it comes to light output.

Go for the orangey-colored LEDs, which are more fitting for the fall season than the whiter LEDs that fit better during winter.

Add a Side Table

The options are endless if you're looking for a fall-themed bedside table. You can go for a rustic wooden table or something with a bit more color. A side table addition is an easy way to add some fall style into your room without going overboard; plus, they can stay even when the seasons change.

There are a few different options, but our favorites are the Cicilian Solid Wood Drum End Table, which can be used for a bedside table or any other table you would need to incorporate into your bedroom.

If you're looking for a unit with some storage for easy access while snoozing, the Dimitri Drawer Pink is a light neutral color that would work for all seasons, plus it has a couple of draws underneath.

Bring Out the Candles

What's a stylish bedroom without some candles? Candles are a great way to add some ambiance to any room, and they come in seasonal scents, which are perfect for fall. Some of our favorites are the Autumn Leaves Candle and the Apple Spice Jar Candle. Both smell amazing and will make your room feel cozy in no time.

Not only do they make your room smell great, but they look stunning too. Place them on your windowsill or side table and watch as the flickering candlelight brings a warm glow to the room.

Warm the Room With a Rug

A freezing cold floor when you get out of a warm, comfortable bed is something you don't want during the fall and winter months. Start the cooler seasons on the right foot by adding a rug to your floor for an extra layer of warmth before you put on your slipper in the morning.

Not only will the rug keep the room warmer and stop your feet from getting cold, but a well-chosen rug will compliment the effort you've put into making the room a fall-style masterpiece.

One of our favorites for the fall is the Alayah Rug Runner. You could place one of these down each side of the bed, so your feet never touch that cold wooden floor. Or you could put one at the foot of the bed, so you have something warm and soft to step on while getting dressed in the morning. The rug adds a touch of Art Nouveau to the room and some great seasonal colors.

Another great choice would be the larger Alayah Rug Square. Again with the same seasonal colors and arty design, this one will cover a larger area of the room, so it could be placed underneath the bed, covering (and insulating) more of the room.
