THEHAUSS is seeking a visionary and highly detail-oriented Licensed Architect to join our team as an Independent Contractor.
This role is ideal for a seasoned architect who thrives in both creative and technical spheres — from schematic design and 3D modeling to permitting and construction oversight.
You will work closely with our Founder/CEO and Interior Design team to lead architecture projects across residential and light commercial developments.
Your role will involve design leadership, code compliance, documentation, and collaboration with consultants, engineers, and contractors to deliver high-end, meaningful spaces.

Key Responsibilities
Develop architectural designs from concept through construction
Prepare construction drawings, permit sets, and technical documentation
Collaborate with interior designers on integrated architectural interiors
Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning, ADA, and safety regulations
Oversee consultants (structural, MEP, civil) and coordinate with contractors
Conduct site evaluations, surveys, and progress inspections
Use tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp for modeling and detailing
Work with local municipalities for approvals and permit applications
Communicate design intent to clients with clarity and confidence
Compensation
Project-based compensation with clear milestones
Average earning potential: $5,000–$20,000+ per project

Licensing & Requirements
Active State of North Carolina license required (or applicable local license for international hires)
Must provide license number and proof of good standing
Business registration and liability insurance preferred
Must sign Independent Contractor Agreement and NDA
Compliance with local building codes, permitting processes, and trade regulations required
Workspace
Independent Contractor (1099)
Licensed Architect (U.S. licensure required — NC preferred)
5–10 years of experience in residential or small-scale commercial architecture
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp
Strong knowledge of zoning, code, and construction detailing
Portfolio showcasing architectural projects and technical drawings
Ability to work independently and manage full scope of projects
Based in or near Raleigh, NC for site visits, permitting, and meetings
