Key Responsibilities 

Design outdoor spaces including patios, planting beds, walkways, lighting, and outdoor living areas

Prepare site plans, planting plans, material boards, and 3D models (optional)

Recommend suitable plants, materials, and water-wise strategies

Work closely with architects, designers, and contractors on site conditions and grading

Advise clients on maintenance, seasonal considerations, and longevity

Source plants and materials from local nurseries or suppliers, when needed

Compensation

$40–$70/hour, depending on experience and technical scope

Flat project fees for small-to-medium scale landscapes

Bonuses for multi-zone projects or referrals

Optional collaboration on product-based landscape decor or custom pieces

Licensing & Requirements 

Professional licensure not required, but landscape architecture license is a plus

Must sign NDA and Independent Contractor Agreement

Liability insurance preferred for on-site installations

Ability to visit sites within the Raleigh region preferred

Workspace

Remote or hybrid role with occasional site visits for measurements or installations

Must have access to design tools/software and reliable internet

Collaboration via Google Drive, Asana, Zoom, and shared mood boards

THEHAUSS may provide base drawings and survey data for integration

2+ years of professional experience in landscape design or architecture

Strong knowledge of native plants, climate-based design, and sustainable practices

Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD, or Vectorworks (preferred but not required)

Familiarity with drainage, grading, and hardscaping principles

Portfolio showing diversity in residential and/or boutique commercial landscapes
