From lighting automation to home theaters and climate control systems, you’ll help design and install smart living solutions that enhance comfort, security, and beauty without disrupting the visual flow of the space.

You’ll collaborate closely with our interior designers, electricians, and homeowners to ensure seamless tech integration that feels effortless and invisible.

Key Responsibilities 

Consult on and install smart home systems including:

Smart lighting, motorized shades, thermostats, security systems, speakers, doorbells, sensors, and more

Integrate devices into platforms such as Google Home, Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Lutron, Nest, Ring, Control4, etc.

Coordinate with electricians, AV teams, and designers during installations

Train clients on how to use their systems confidently and efficiently

Ensure installations are minimally invasive and preserve design integrity

Troubleshoot connectivity, compatibility, or app-related issues

Compensation

$50–$90/hour, depending on scope and certification

Flat project rates available for full-home integrations

Bonus for completing multi-room or complex systems

Payment per milestone or final walkthrough

Licensing & Requirements 

No specific license required in NC for low-voltage installs, but electrical work must be done in coordination with a licensed electrician

Must carry liability insurance (or be covered under your entity)

Must sign Independent Contractor Agreement and NDA

Must have own tools, devices, and reliable transportation

Workspace

On-site at residential or commercial design projects across Raleigh and surrounding areas

Product specs, room layouts, and aesthetic briefs provided by the design team

Communication and coordination via Asana, Google Drive, and site walkthroughs

Virtual client training may be required post-install

2+ years experience in smart home automation or residential tech systems

Knowledge of current and emerging smart platforms and devices

Strong understanding of Wi-Fi networks, hubs, and device compatibility

Ability to work independently and on-site

Bonus: Certifications in Control4, Savant, Lutron, or Crestron
